چکیده

Herein, data on rainbow trout infections with the copepod Caligus lacustris in cage aquaculture Lake Ladoga is presented. (n = 127 ex.) were collected from a farm housing cage-reared to describe size–age and sex structure of population. Morphological features copepods evaluated according 10 characters terminology proposed by Kabata Gusev (J Linn Soc (Zool) 46(309):155–207, 1966). To determine phylogenetic position C. within genus Caligus, fragments cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 mitochondrial gene (COI, 645 bp) 18S rRNA (1617 sequenced. An increase parasite prevalence was observed as lake warming up July September. The morphological crustacean’s larval adult stages, characterized specific parameters quantitative traits, are described. Three COI haplotypes only one haplotype identified among five samples. Based analysis (resolution tree poor), we can conclude that clade containing lacustris, aforementioned sister species, appears an early radiation Caligus. development freshwater contributes transfer native farmed trout.

Rainbow Trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss

Rainbow trout are classified as Oncorhynchus mykiss, and as such belong to the same genus as Pacific salmon, and to the family Salmonidae, which includes Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), various trout (Salvelinus sp.), Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus), Arctic grayling (Thymallus arcticus) and whitefish (Coregonus sp.). Rainbow trout are native to areas around the North Pacific Ocean, from souther...

Gyrodactylid ectoparasites in a population of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).

A colony of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in a decentralized aquatic animal facility was noted to have an increase in morbidity and mortality (from 4 or 5 fish each month to 3 or 4 fish daily) approximately 2 wk after experimental procedures began. The primary clinical signs were erratic swimming behavior and 'flashing' of fish against surfaces within housing enclosures. Moribund and norm...

Effects of aquaculture production noise on hearing, growth, and disease resistance of rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss

Intensive aquaculture production often utilizes equipment (e.g., aerators, air and water pumps, harvesters, blowers, filtration systems, and maintenance machinery) that increases noise levels in fish culture tanks. Consequently, chronic exposure to elevated noise levels in tanks could negatively impact cultured species. Possible effects include impairment of the auditory system, increased stres...

Molecular epidemiology of zoonotic streptococcosis/lactococcosis in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) aquaculture in Iran

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Streptococcosis/lactococcosis is a hyperacute systemic disease that can occur in marine and fresh waters of many species of fish. The aim of this work was to study the disease outbreak in the major rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) production of Iran. MATERIALS AND METHODS 108 Gram positive cocci isolates were obtained from diseased trout in seven provinces with ma...
